Heavily inspired by Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, this blog is meant to be my personal journal, a constant reminder to myself of my values and beliefs. The thoughts I write here are a mixture of  who I am and who I aspire to be, and the act of writing them down is part of the process which will get me there.

Although I might not always act according to my ideals, everything I publish on here I fully believe to be true and strive towards.

While the scope of the blog is personal, I believe that as human beings we are all intimately connected and share the same experiences. For this reason I want my thoughts to be public, so that they can be of inspiration to anybody that resonates with them.

So here is my thought for the reader:

If you are reading my words, and the circumstances are right, you might be feeling something inside, a feeling that tells you there is something beyond these words, a ring of truth. Perhaps you might be feeling like you are alone, as if nobody around you understands the world as you do. Don’t discount this feeling, but use it as a compass to guide you. I think it was Rollo May who once said:

“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it’s conformity”

The pictures on the blog are the beautiful work of extremely talented photographer Erik Kim, whom I had the pleasure to meet in a coffeeshop while he was visiting London to hold a photography workshop. I believe I was reading a copy of Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations and he mentioned he had a photography blog that was inspired by Stoicism. I can’t think of more appropriate images as a companion to my thoughts.
